History of Pilates
Joseph H.Pilates developed Pilates in the 1920's. Pilates was originally known as Contrology. Pilates began with a series of floor exercises, referred to today as mat Pilates, designed to create fluidity and control. These exercises combine strength, endurance, and stretching to work your entire body.
Pilates Equipment
Mr.Pilates also invented the Pilates equipment known as the Reformer, Cadillac (trap table), and stability chair and ladder barrel. The equipment uses springs for resistance, which provides toning and increased range of motion without strain.
Getting Started
To evaluate your needs, establish an awareness of the deep torso muscles and create foundation in the technique, we recommend a one-on-one introductory session followed by a minimum of four private sessions. This will allow us to work specifically with you on your needs and goals.
At be fitness and wellness center, we embrace the method of Stott Pilates.
